Leeds and Lille have been partner cities since 1968.
Since 1968 the number and nature of the links have multiplied and there is continual contact between academics, young people and businesses in both countries.
The two cities have worked together on various youth and education projects, mostly European funded, to address common challenges faced by modern European cities.
Leeds City Council International Relations has secured funding to begin an exciting Comenius Regio Project for 2013-2015. The CIVIC (Citizenship In action through Voice and Influence of Children) project will see the exchange of best practice between teachers to develop children’s civic involvement in Lille and Leeds.
